I got a Uniden UIP1868 … Right now I have the analog version of that cordless setup. So I believe I can just swap out the base unit and go VoIP throughout the house. We will see how well that works for me. I’ll report back when I have some more data.

I’ve been working with Orion VoIP, which is a local VoIP start up, and will be getting service through them. We will have to see how well VoIP does for me overall.

I think I may be ditching my analog phone service in the near future.

Damn. I’m getting the ‘Green Screen of Death’, followed by a reboot. Over and over and over … I may have found the resolution. I’ll know in a few minutes. Damn.

A friend sent me teh URL to a TomTom GPS  after finding out I am in the market for a GPS that will work on my bike and can be used for geocaching. Anybody have any experience with this unit, and/or TomTom in general?

I am looking for a GPS I can use for geocaching and for mounting on my motorcycle to help me to get around. Anybody have any ideas for me? I’d like to be able to update it using FreeBSD if possible, and/or use a memory card of some kind rather than a USB connection between PC and GPS. Any suggestions?

I’ve got several TiVos in my house. The one in my basement shit itself. Luckily I made backup images of them when I first got them so all I needed to do was swap the drive out and restore the image.

I accidently restored the wrong image which was the suck ass. I realized that before I had put it all back together again, so I’m pretty excited about that. I ended up exchanging the two 120s in it with two brand new 250GB drives. In theory, that’s something like 600hrs of TV. Neat. I’ll never watch that much, but that’s not the point. The point is I could if I wanted to. More power and all that jazz.

In other news, it’s cold as shit. Ice all over the place. In theory, end of next week will be in the 50s. I can’t wait. Really wanna get back on my bike after that almost no bike scare.

I got my voltage regulators in the mail yesterday. Didn’t have time to work with them to ensure they are going to work out for my pic project, but I suspect they will. Only time will tell, I’ll post again when I know what’s what on that.

Additionally, I’m up $1.09 in my Prosper account.

Things are well. I’m up 36 cents on my Prosper loans, I have a dozen 5v regulators on the way to me, arriving Tuesday, speed sensor for my helicopter should arrive any day now.

In theory, tomorrow I will spend the day trying to rid my folks property of coyotes. They are killing all the neighbors livestock, which is making my folks unpopular to say the least. We will have to see how that works out for me.

I got it working. Apparently, my code has been good all this time, as has my schematic. I’ve had ass power. I was somehow under the impression that I could drive the entire project on 9v. I was wrong. A review of the data sheet for my PIC led me to that conclusion. I swapped out the 9v for several AAs for a combined ~6v and it worked out fine for me.

I’ve ordered a bunch of  5v regulators to have on hand so I can continue to use the 9v batteries as my power source. I’ll be posting pictures and such when I get a chance. At this point though, it seems to be working, which is the good shit.
